Light and Flesh in Watercolor Portraiture

July 25th, 1.30PM-5.30PM

(Please arrive 20 minutes early. Parking is residential and easy. )

Nick Runge is a fine art painter with a specific accomplishment in figurative watercolor work. 

Nick will have original work on-hand for sale.

THE WORKSHOP WILL INCLUDE:

I. A 30-minute presentation of Nick's work and biography, with audience Q & A. 

II. Painting from Photo demo - 1.5 hours

In the first half of the class, Nick will demonstrate how to selectively paint from a photo reference.

III. Painting from Photo demo and workshop - 1.5 hours

In the second half of the demo, both Nick and workshop guests will paint portraits from their own photo-reference. Nick will begin by explaining how he initially analyzes the image and will then check in with guests on how they might best translate their photographic information into painted information. 

IV. A Final 30 minute Q & A where students can present their own individual pieces and sketchbook for critique and discussion. 

MATERIALS TO BRING: 

A photo-reference. 

A watercolor sketchbook or a few small sheets. 

A watercolor set and associated materials.
